What Is KAPower ?

Technical Definition:

KAPower is an asymmetrical electrochemical double layer capacitor. Otherwise known as an electrochemical capacitor (EC), supercapacitor, or ultracapacitor.

KAPower supercapacitors use carbon electrodes in conjunction with nickel electrodes, non-conducting separators, and an alkaline electrolyte (potassium hydroxide solution) inside each cell to store and release its energy. The carbon and nickel are different, and as such, have unequal amounts of surface area for collecting energy. Thus, the design becomes asymmetric and allows KAPower to have upwards of double the capacitance value when compared to symmetrical ultracapacitor designs. As a result, KAPower’s characteristics are ideal for engine starting applications or other high pulse-power applications.
